02-02-2015, Watch MPs expose Mordaunt’s lies in the Commons debate
To all London FBU branches Watch MPs expose Mordaunt's lies in the Commons debate Further to our previous communication which reported on the unravelling of the fire minister’s ‘guarantee’ that firefighters over the age of 55 would receive an unreduced pension if they fail a fitness test, a number of MPs took the opportunity to press the minister during DCLG questions in the House of Commons today. During the discussion, and despite the bluster and waffle of the minister, it became blindingly apparent that her ‘guarantee’ is utterly worthless. The discussion was witnessed by a number of firefighters in the public gallery. Members may view the debate by clicking on the link below. It begins at 42 minutes 25 seconds. Please note that questions on firefighters’ pensions pop up randomly during the session, so it is worth watching right to the end. To assist viewing, we have provided a timeline. PODCAST OF DISCUSSION ON CUTS ON LBC 97.3
Please find, below, a link to the audio of a discussion on London Fire Brigade cuts that occurred on LBC 97.3’s drivetime show last night. Listeners should scroll to 40 minutes.
The show featured an interview with the FBU’s Ben Sprung, which was followed by an interview with Conservative LFEPA member Tony Arbour, who waffled and floundered under penetrative questioning by the show’s presenter Iain Dale (himself a Conservative supporter).
