MACEDONIA'S CRISIS AFFECTING ENTIRE REGION, ZAEV TELLS BULGARIA PM
The political crisis into which Macedonia has plunged over the past years is affecting neighboring states as well, the country's opposition leader has said while on a Friday visit to Sofia.

Zaev met PM Boyko Borisov in the morning at the Council of Ministers, telling journalists afterwards that he would like to extend his gratitude to Sofia authorities for putting in effort to help find a way out of the political turmoil.

Bulgaria, "a big friend of Macedonia", has to be informed of opportunities to find a peaceful solution, Focus News Agency quotes Zaev as saying.
"Macedonia has got our support for joining the EU and NATO. We insist very much that the political crisis be resolved in a democratic way," PM Borisov has told private national bTV station.

"We are categorically against statements on Macedonia's federalization," he added, referring to suggestions by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov that Bulgaria and Albania might be seeking to partition the country. read more

Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov boasted that over 10 000 jobs had been created in plants opened over the past few days in the country.
Speaking Friday in Devnya at the opening of a new production line at the local cement plant, Borisov noted that the new jobs had been created in Burgas, Stara Zagora, and Devnya, according to reports of the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency. read more

Industrial Holding Doverie AD, a subsidiary of Doverie Obedinen Holding AD, has signed a preliminary contract for the acquisition of 99.53% of the capital of Tokuda Bank AD, according to an official media statement of the company.
The seller of the 99.53% stake in Tokuda Bank AD is International Hospital Services, a Japan-registered company known in Bulgaria as the owner of Tokuda Bank AD and a number of companies operating in the sphere of healthcare. read more

DSK BANK, CIBANK TO PROVIDE REVOLVING LOAN OF BGN 80 M TO BULGARIAВЂ™S FLAG FUND
DSK Bank and CIBANK will provide a revolving loan of BGN 80 M to the FLAG Fund (Fund of Local Government Authorities in Bulgaria).
The money will be used to finish municipal projects financed under operational programs “Environment” and “Regional Development” for the 2007-2013 programming period, according to a media statement of the Regional Development Ministry. read more

BULGARIAВЂ™S FINANCE MINISTRY REPORTS SURPLUS OF BGN 1 066.6 M BY END-APRIL 2015
Based on the monthly data of first-level spending units, a surplus of BGN 1,066.6 million is reported as of end-April 2015 (1.3 % of the projected GDP), according to Bulgaria’s Finance Ministry.
The surplus is formed from the excess of national budget revenues over expenditures of BGN 536.5 million and a surplus of EU funds of BGN 530.1 million. read more

BULGARIA'S ENERGY REGULATOR PROPOSES 2 % INCREASE OF ELECTRICITY PRICES FROM JULY 1
A report of Bulgaria's Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (KEVR) proposes the price of electricity for end users to increase by 2 % on average from July 1.
The regulator will discuss the proposal on June 4 and the decision is expected to be taken by the end of next month, daily Dnevnik reports. read more

In March 2015, the production of unleaded petrol increased by 127.4% on the month to 166 000 tonnes, according to Bulgaria’s National Statistical Institute.
At the same time deliveries of unleaded petrol went up by 22% to 50 000 tonnes on a monthly basis. read more

Former Bulgarian Prime Minister Ivan Kostov has asked the head of a Burgas-based Lukoil refinery for access to import contracts of crude oil.

A delegation Poland's Sejm (Lower House of Parliament) was welcomed on Friday morning to the National Assembly building in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Led by Deputy Marshal Jerzy Wenderlich, the visitors are in Bulgaria on May 28-29. On Thursday they met with both Parliament Speaker Tsetska Tsecheva and her Deputy Yanaki Stoilov to discuss bilateral relations and general EU affairs.

Later on Friday the group is to open an exhibition in Parliament themed "Polish Citizens In and For Intependent Bulgaria". read more

FUTURE BULGARIAN AMBASSADOR TO TURKEY TO SEEK NEW BASIS OF BILATERAL RELATIONS
The former Foreign Minister and future ambassador to Turkey Nadezhda Neynsky said that she is to seek new basis of bilateral relations and will champion the Bulgarian national interests.
Neynsky did not want to make concrete statements as she was still to hold many conversations before her departure to Turkey, she said in an interview for private bTV station on Friday. read more

Bulgaria's Ministry of Justice has published its draft proposals to introduce changes to the judiciary.
Amendments put forward by Minister Hristo Ivanov include changes to the structure and organization of the Supreme Judicial Council (VSS), a top watchdog often labeled "the government of the judiciary". read more

BLAST ROCKS UKRAINE PRESIDENT'S CONFECTIONERY CHAIN STORE
A blast occurred late on Thursday in a Kiev store of Roshen, a confectionery chain owned by Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, police say.

No-one was injured after a bomb went off in the store at about 23:00 local time.

An improvised explosive device was used in the attack, Oleksandr Tereshchuk, who heads the Kiev police department, is quoted by TASS as telling journalists from Ukraine's public TV station.

Tereshchuk has called the incident "an act of hooliganism" and has ruled out any terror link.

Roshen is one of the world's large confectionery manufacturing groups, also having production facilities in Lithuania and Russia.

In January, there was an assault on another Roshen store, with a young man purporting to be part of a "civic organization" hurling rocks at the store's window.  read more

BULGARIAN MOVIE VIKTORIA RELEASED IN THE US
The film Viktoria by director and writer Maya Vitkova has been selected for a US release by the company Big World Pictures, located in Brooklyn, New York, the Hollywood Reporter announced.
The official premiere of the movie was at the Sundance Film Fetsival. In fact, this is mreley the second Bulgarian movie selected for a US release over the course of the past thirty years. read more

PREVIEW OF GAME OF THRONES EPISODE FEATURING ZAHARI BAHAROV NOW RELEASED
Mere hours are left until the premiere of the eight episode of the hit HBO series Game of Thrones, featuring a performance by Bulgarian actor Zahari Baharov in the role of a leader of a cannibal tribe.

Bulgaria has the second highest number of smokers in Europe and ranks sixth in the world in this respect.
According to the latest Eurobarometer, which was released on Friday, 35 % of Bulgarians smoke, being preceded only by the Greeks, where the share of the smoking population is 38 %. read more

BULGARIAN FOOTBALL UNION TO ANNOUNCE FATE OF CSKA, LOKOMOTIV SOFIA ON JUNE 1
The Appeal Committee of the Bulgarian Football Union (BFS) will announce its decision on the revoked licences of CSKA Sofia, Lokomotiv Sofia and two other clubs on Monday.

BULGARIAN POLICE ARRESTS SOFIA STORE ARMED ROBBERS
The armed robbers of the Sofia store have now been arrested. The announcement was made by store owner Mihail Rusinov on his Facebook profile.

BULGARIA POLICE DETAIN 2 ENDANGERED TURTLE EATERS
Two Bulgarian citizens who cooked 17 endangered turtles and ate them have been arrested in the country's southern town of Krumovgrad, police say.

The detainees, aged 59 and 26 respectively, have been charged with trying to exterminate an endangered species, according to private national TV7 channel.
No details about the exact species were immediately available.

They told police they were very hungry and felt an urge to cook the animals.

Both men, who are said to be representatives of the ethnic Roma minority could be facing charges of up to 5 years behind bars and a fine of up to BGN 10 000.
