“It was quite intimidating to be a tiny publication surrounded by the world press covering this event. The only way I could keep my focus, and maybe even my sanity, was to say, I’m not doing what they’re doing, I’m doing something that’s about my neighbors, and what’s the impact on them?”

Jeanette worked across the street from the North Tower, and escaped that day physically unscathed. She now feels that it is her duty to share her story so people can connect with 9/11 and remember those lost.

"Teaching 9/11" provides a window into creative and probing approaches teachers have taken to introduce the subject of 9/11.
Discussion of 9/11 is not a mandatory lesson in most classrooms across the country. However, many educators want to be sure their students learn about this pivotal event so they can participate in our world as knowledgeable and discerning citizens. Despite the challenges in introducing a complex and emotional topic, these teachers have motivated their students to understand and feel the resonances of 9/11 in today’s world. ‪#‎Teaching911‬

Join us in celebrating the 10th Anniversary of our Walking Tour program. This group is comprised of our first several volunteer groups, posing outside of the 10/10 Firehouse on the 9/11 Tribute Center’s ribbon cutting and grand opening. These volunteers, and the volunteers after, have been an integral part of our mission to make sure their stories are heard.‪#‎10yearanniversary‬ ‪#‎ThrowbackThursday‬
